| For a while, I was enamored with the Victorian Crazy Quilts. The rich fabrics and textures were so luxurious. I researched the beginnings of Crazy Quilts to find how and when they began, and the different ways of designing them. This one is made of rich browns, rusts, deep reds and beiges using velvet, corduroy, silk, satin and wool. Some of the pieces come from a suit my mother had made by a Japanese tailor in Japan 37 years ago. The fabric is Japanese silk, bought when we lived in Japan. The quilt is embellished with hand and machine embroidery. It is a larger quilt, but not quite long enough for a twin bed. It ranks more as a throw quilt. |
